Jamsession - guitar workshop 4# - Brand new rythm + G | Cadd9 | Emi7 | Dsus4 | D

Hi, it's been a while from our last lesson but you seemed having fun and also doing progress. Keep it up, guys!

Some of you asked how often people should practice. There is no universal answer and also all answers can be little bit tricky. I will explain why.

Usually when you attend classic music classes with a music teacher you spend maybe 1 hour with him or her and then you go home and practice one evening 2 hours before the next lesson and maybe sometimes you spend an extra hour practicing during weekend. That works not well with becoming a good musicians. You can do it maybe 10 years and after it you pray that it ends and you wish to do anything else except of playing some instrument. But when you really decide to be A MUSICIAN, then you start love your instrument and you can discover some science and math in the music and while you can express your emotions using the music, then you can pronounce yourself musician. You realize then that you need to practice more and more to not repeat the same mistakes and you also will continue with some kind of a system of working on your technique as well.

So from the beginning I'd suggest to play 30 minutes a day. All together with our regular meetings it will cover 4 hours per week. That is not bad for people who want one day play just for themselves at home or having some basic knowledge to start learning more from a starting point they are at now.

I will give you an example also: When I compose some music or practice a new song. I usually spend at least 10 - 15 hours listening and practicing ac. guitar and electric guitar riffs and solos before I go on stage.

Now the new exciting chords as a review from our last workout:

Notice we played this progression:
G | Cadd9 | Emi7 | Dsus4 | D | G

And this videos will give you and idea of the new rythm we've played if you forgot it.

Useful link for your practises

Hi my blog followers,

The spring is here and days are longer. I would wish that while you're practising you are also experienting good feeling from your progression. I hope and pray that you will become a good musician.

To be at least good-medium advanced guitarist takes some time. Not everyone will need hundreds of hours of practices. I decided to lear myself in a best way to help you to grow as fast as possible.

I found very nice web page and you can use it for home practises. I appreciate every person who is making an extra step, an extra mile.

Jamsession - guitar workshop lesson 2# RHYTHMS

Hi everyone who is passionate about learning guitar from scratch. Today I have for you a surprise. I shot a few videos for you to keep up what we studied during our 2nd lesson of Jamsession.

here we go!!!

Introduction video
As a warm up you always need to do something. Church vocalist they sing in the shower early in the morning befor they go to church, like I do. It is a great way how to moisture your vocal chords etc. But befor I play, I tune my guitar, then I sound check my sound and they we play some song as band and this is it.

But in your case I want you to keep playing simple and basic stuff befor you go on to higher level.
So the next video is the simplest way how to connect with your guitar and teach your brain and hand do what you want to do.

Other rhythm is this. There are some like "jumps" things on the beginning of every messure. So if you can do it, than you can do also the last one. The one I showed you for the first time.

I hope it helps and see you next time in April.

Take care.

Jamsession - guitar workshop lesson 1#

On Wednesday every even-numbered week I'm teaching a small class of newborn guitarists. I'm thankful that there are still some people in the 21st century who are not only PC, Mac, mobile phone etc. fans. Guys, if you read it now, I bet that this year you will be equiped for being able to study independently and I will try my best to help you to become good. But I know that I can't guarrantie success unless you will work hard everyday.

So here are some excercises we're doing yesterday:

1. Exercise: Chord Progression

E5 | C#mi7 | Bsus4 | Asus2 | Bsus4 | E5

2. Rhythm exercise: Presbyterian rhythm

You can try to find some metronome on internet and set it on 95 BPM (this is the timming or speed) and then try to folow it by using a pattern for strumming.

I like this website: Free On-line metronome

I wish you all great time during practising.

Lesson 1: The laziest band member - a guitarist

I remember myself learning guitar chords from some songbooks. Yeah, actually in almost every typical songbook from my teenage-hood I could find some kind of a list or a table on the last pages. I recommend you to get some too and learn it.

It will look like that:

Open chords
But what happened if some song was in a different key and I couldn't use chords I knew? My good friend showed me a CAPO (CAPODASTER) which helped me a lot to play the same chords but I could be more flexible. From that time I was not limited by the key. Finally, I could play along everyone.

Kyser CAPO

I have tried lot of cheap or good and also really good ones. Some cheap worked well with my guitar but not well with the band...

Now I will tell you why I think a guitarist is a laziest musician in a band! Because he doesn't have to know sharps (#] or flats (b), he doesn't have to bend his fingers, because there are open chords and CAPOs always available. But good musicians they know and understand music theory, because they found a math in it :-)

Befor I watched first Paul Baloche teaching videos

I was trying to experiment with my guitar. I used to play hours and hours everyday and I had a simple feeling that I and my guitar are ONE. Then it broke down. I put my fingers in a unique position and it sounded new. Fresh and awesome. After many years I learned that it already had a system. The name of this system is OPEN CHORD SYSTEM.

Chord Nr. 1# I like to play most is open E and progresions in major E.
Here we go:

OK, the conclussion of this 1st lesson is. Learn basics and use smart tricks to became an universal guitarist.
